FREE TICKETS IN THE PARK

At the heart of The Public’s return to The Delacorte, this summer is our commitment to health and safety protocols that ensure Free Shakespeare in the Park is a safe and celebratory experience for you, the artists, and our staff. For this reason, the distribution of free tickets will be all digital with our new digital distribution partner, GOLDSTAR. The Public will implement the following digital lottery ticket distribution policies this summer.

This year, we are pleased to announce that all free tickets will be exclusively distributed through an advanced digital lottery distribution hosted by our new partner GOLDSTAR. Goldstar will be offering access to the lottery through their Apple app, Android app, and their website

TYPES OF SEATING AT THE DELACORTE

FULL CAPACITY SECTIONS
  • Recommended for those, 12 years or older, who have been COVID-19 vaccinated.
  • Seats have no physical distancing. People sitting in these sections will be sitting directly next to other people.
  • Children, 11 years or younger, may accompany their vaccinated parent or guardian.
PHYSICALLY DISTANCED SECTIONS
  • Recommended for those who are not COVID-19 vaccinated, or the vaccination status of an individual(s) in the party is unknown.
  • Seats are limited and can be reserved in pods of 1 seat or 2 seats.
  • Unoccupied seats separate all seating pods.

GENERAL DIGITAL LOTTERY

Free tickets will be distributed via digital lottery on the Goldstar app or through their desktop website each Tuesday and Friday, one week before the next week’s scheduled performances. 

Goldstar will begin accepting lottery entries on Tuesday, June 29 for Tuesday, July 6 and Wednesday, July 7 performances, and then again on Friday, July 2 for performances July 8 through July 10, and continue each Tuesday for Monday to Wednesday performances and Friday for Thursday to Saturday performances thereafter. For a schedule of entry dates for performances, view the Entry Calendar. You are eligible to enter the lottery for either (1) or two (2) tickets from the General Distribution Lottery for a chance to win tickets to a future performance of MERRY WIVES. 

  1. Download the Goldstar app (Apple, Android) in advance, or visit their website anytime to receive lottery reminders prior to the lottery dates, and be prepared in advance to enter to win.
  2. On the day of each lottery, enter the lottery on the Goldstar app or website, between 12:00AM and 12:00PM (Noon, ET).
  3. Enter the General Lottery for up to two free tickets and choose any one, or all the available performance dates available for that day’s lottery. There are separate drawings for Full Capacity and Physically Distanced sections. 
  4. The lottery will begin at 12:00 PM (Noon, ET).  
    1. Make sure your name and e-mail address are correct, and that Goldstar push notifications are turned on, so you can receive confirmation of lottery status. You will be notified if you've won after Noon ET on the same day of the lottery.  You must confirm your winning tickets in the Goldstarapp within one hour (60 minutes) of being notified. After you have been notified and claimed your tickets, The Public will contact you about our Health & Safety Plan and other performance information. 
  5. If you win, please plan to pick up your tickets in person at Delacorte Box Office on the day you are scheduled to attend the performance between 4PM and 7:30PM with a Govermenet issued ID. Tickets that are not claimed by 7:30PM will be released to our Text to Standby Line.

65+ SENIOR ACCESSIBILITY LOTTERY

If you are age 65 years or older, regardless of disability, you may enter to win up to two (2) tickets for a performance through our 65+ Senior Accessible Lottery on the Goldstar app or through their desktop website each Tuesday and Friday, one week before the next week’s scheduled performances. For a schedule of entry dates for performances, view the Entry Calendar.

You are eligible to enter the lottery for either one (1) or two (2) tickets from our 65+ Senior Accessible Lottery for a chance to win tickets to a future performance of MERRY WIVES if you are age 65 or older on the day of your scheduled performance.

  1. Download the Goldstar app (Apple, Android) in advance, or visit their website anytime to receive lottery reminders prior to the lottery dates, and be prepared in advance to enter to win.
  2. On the day of each lottery, enter the lottery on the Goldstar app or website, between 12:00AM and 12:00PM (Noon, ET).

ADA ACCESSIBLE DIGITAL DISTRIBUTION

If you require an ADA accessible accommodation to attend a performance, join the ADA Accessible Digital Distribution beginning at 12:00 PM (noon), while supplies last on the Goldstar app or through their desktop website each Tuesday and Friday one week prior to the next week’s scheduled performances. You are eligible to receive either one (1) or two (2) tickets through our ADA Accessible Digital Distribution to a future performance of MERRY WIVES if you attest to requiring an accessible accommodation to attend a performance. Goldstar will create a digital line, and The Public will contact you directly on the day of each lottery, if we can accommodate your request based on availability. Tickets distributed via the ADA Accessible Digital line are first come, first served based on the seating capacity and ticket availability of the performance. Not everyone who enters the ADA Accessible line will receive a ticket for a performance. Requested accommodation types will be as follows:

  • No Stairs Location
  • Limited Stairs Location
  • Hard of Hearing or Hearing Loss Location
  • Low Vision or Vision Loss Location
  • Average-Sized Wheelchair Location
  • Oversized Wheelchair Location

  3. Join the ADA Accessible Digital Distribution for up to two free tickets and choose any one, or all the available performance dates available for that day’s distribution. There are separate distributions for Full Capacity and Physically Distanced sections. 
  4. Distribution will begin at 12:00 PM (Noon, ET).  
    1. Make sure your name, e-mail address, and phone number are correct to ensure a smooth booking process with our staff, as we will contact you both by email and phone to confirm your needs. The Public will also contact you about our Health & Safety Plan and other performance information by email leading up to your scheduled performance. 
  5. If we can accommodate your accessible request, please plan to pick up your tickets in person at The Delacorte Box Office on the day you are scheduled to attend the performance between 4PM and 7:30PM with a Government issued ID. Tickets that are not claimed by 7:30PM will be released to our Text to Standby Line. 

You can join the Digital Line at 12PM (noon) on each distribution day, while names are collected. We are forthcoming that this distribution process differs from our other methods of free access, but a lottery format is not successful in properly responding to the accessibility needs of our guests and their companions.  For a schedule of distribution dates for performances, view the Entry Calendar.

What is the name of the company hosting your digital distribution?

Goldstar. You can download their Apple app, Android app, or visit their website

What if I don’t have access to a computer or smart device, or I don't want to create a Goldstar account, how do I enter the lotteries or join the digital list?

If you do not wish or are unable to enter via the Goldstar website or app, you can enter via mail for two (2) tickets per winner by mailing a postcard or letter with your name, email, phone number, zip code, desired performance(s), and which lottery you're entering General or 65+ Senior Accessible lottery. For ADA Accessible Digital Line, you can request to be added to a list via mail for two (2) tickets by mailing a postcard or letter with your name, email, phone number, zip code, all desired performance(s), and what type of accommodation you require. All postcards and letters must be sent to Goldstar Events, Inc. C/O Free Shakespeare in the Park PO Box 277, Altadena, CA 91003-0277. Mailed entries must be received by the end of the day on Monday, June 28th for all July performance dates, by the end of the day on Monday, July 26th for all August performance dates, and by the end of the day on Monday, August 30th for all September performance dates. Please send only one (1) postcard for all requested performances.

How many tickets can I win or request?

One (1) or two (2) tickets per entry date.

How many times can I win or receive tickets to a performance production through the General Digital lottery and free ticket distribution?

Due to reduced theater capacity, you will only win or receive tickets once for MERRY WIVES. This policy is in place to ensure that as many people as possible can attend a performance. 

Will there be a standby line for Free Shakespeare in the Park this summer?

Information on the day-of-performance Free Standby will be available on June 29.

Can I reserve seats for Free Shakespeare in the Park?

Yes - as a thank you for helping keep Shakespeare in the Park free for thousands of people, we offer a minimal number of reserved seats to our Partners, Young Partners, and Supporter Plus donors who support making Free Shakespeare in the Park available through their generous donation.
