HEALTH & SAFETY, NEXT STEPS

We are excited to welcome you to our flagship home at Astor Place. We are continually adapting health and safety protocols in line with recommendations from the CDC, the WHO, and city, state, and federal guidelines. Learn more below about the adjustments to protocols at The Public,  effective Monday, September 12, 2022.

VACCINATIONS

We no longer require proof of vaccination to access the facility, theaters, and The Library at The Public.

FACE MASKS

A face mask is now strongly encouraged inside the facility and theaters, except on specific performance days (listed below) when a face mask will be required for everyone.

MASK REQUIRED PERFORMANCES

A face mask is required for all attendees while watching a performance on Tuesday evening, Saturday afternoon, & Sunday afternoon performances.

These mask-required performances accommodate immunocompromised or people who are uncomfortable in an unmasked environment. Mask-required performances will be notated with an icon on performance calendars on the website. You will be reminded of the protocols through reminder emails leading up to the performance.

OTHER THINGS TO KNOW
  • The Lobby Bar for concessions will be closed during face mask-required performances. However, you may bring a sealed bottle of water into the theater.
  • While inside The Public Theater for mask-required performances, everyone must wear a properly fitting mask over their nose and mouth, except when eating or drinking in designated areas. Gaiters, bandanas, and masks with exhalation valves are not permitted.

MASK OPTIONAL PERFORMANCES

A face mask is not required but strongly encouraged when attending performances on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, & Sunday evenings.

All performances in Joe's Pub do not require a face mask because food and drink are available throughout the show. A face mask is strongly encouraged when not actively eating or drinking.

COVID-19 LIABILITY

While the health and safety of our staff, artists, and attendees continue to be an important part of our daily operations, an inherent risk of exposure to and infection with COVID-19 exists in any space where people are present. By visiting The Public and any of our facilities, theaters, or restaurant, you voluntarily assume all risks related to exposure to COVID-19.

SELF ASSESSMENT

We will continue to offer flexible options for exchanging tickets and account credit if you cannot attend a performance due to illness or recent COVID-19 exposure. Before leaving home, we ask that you take a moment to self-assess the following questions:

  • Have I been in contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 in the last seven days?
  • Have I experienced any of the following in the last 24 hours?
    • FEVER OR CHILLS
